Batch Split

After a stock count, move the stock an item had before tracking started (Unassigned) into its real batches.

Menu: Inventory Tracking → Transactions → Batch Split

When tracking is switched on for an item that already has stock, that stock goes into the Unassigned batch, because nobody yet knows which batches it belongs to. After a physical count, Batch Split moves it into the real batches with their dates. Item stock and value do not change; only the batch breakdown does.

Split Unassigned into batches

  1. Open Batch Split. The Item list shows every item with Unassigned stock in your branch, with the quantity. Search by code or name if the list is long.
  2. Pick the item. The note shows its Unassigned in branch quantity and its tracking profile.
  3. Click Enter batches. The same dialog as stock coming in on Batch Allocation opens: Batch no, dates, extra batch fields and the other fields marked * by the profile; Add batch for more rows.
  4. Click Apply. The batches appear in the section, with Into batches and Stays in Unassigned; the Details column lists the extra batch fields entered.
  5. Optionally add Notes (e.g. the count sheet number), click Post split and confirm.

Split Unassigned stock into batches

This video will show: picking an item with Unassigned stock, entering the counted batches, posting the split and checking the batch table.

Rules

  • The batches may add up to less than Unassigned (the rest stays there) but never more.
  • Batch numbers and dates follow the item's tracking profile, exactly as when receiving stock. An existing batch can be added to only with its original dates.
  • The quantity moves with its value, at the Unassigned batch's average cost; item stock and value stay the same.
  • Splits are per branch: your logged-in branch.
  • Each split gets a number (e.g. LAS261021101500) and shows in Recent splits and in each batch's Batch transactions as Batch split.
