HR Masters

Departments, designations, nationalities and the other lists you choose from on employee records – what each is for and how to maintain them.

Masters are the lists you choose from when filling in an employee: departments, designations, nationalities and so on. Setting them up first means every employee record uses the same spelling – and your reports group people correctly.

Add a value

  1. Open the master, e.g. Departments, and click Add Department.
  2. Enter a Code – exactly 3 letters or digits, e.g. FIN or 001. Bizmagnet checks it is free ("Checking availability...").
  3. Enter the Name (English) and Arabic Description – up to 50 characters each.
  4. Click Save.
Pick a code pattern and stick to it – for example short letters for departments (FIN, SAL, WHS) and numbers for nationalities (001, 002…). Codes can't be changed later.

Edit or delete

  • Edit: click the edit icon next to the name. The code is locked; you can change the names. (Typing an existing code on a new entry also offers to open it for editing.)
  • Delete: click the delete icon and confirm.
Don't delete values that employees use. Bizmagnet doesn't stop you, and employees who had that value will show an empty field. Rename the value instead.

Review all masters at once

The Master List report shows the codes and names of any master – choose it with the radio buttons, click Refresh, and print or export to Excel. Handy for checking before importing employees.
